Interview with Exotic Cancer

Exotic Cancer is a stripper and artist from Melbourne Australia and her Instagram is easily one of my favorite accounts online at the moment. She mentions that working as an exotic dancer has inspired her illustrations. I find it easy to relate to her work and I think that it really captures the strip club experience in an abstract kind of way. Obviously, I was thrilled when she agreed to do a short interview for the blog!

How did you start stripping and how long have you been doing it for?

I started stripping when I had to move to the city to study. I’ve been doing it for nearly 5 years now.

What inspired you to start sharing online?

I’ve always shared my art online, I feel like sharing my work inspires me to grow and develop my skills at a faster rate than if I just kept it to myself.

Can you share the creative process behind making new art?

I do post the process on my Patreon! 😉

Do you have any new projects coming up?

Im going to make undies with the FYPM (Fuck You Pay Me) design on them. It’s incredibly hard to source the right style and colour of underwear in the quantity that I want. It’ll be happening in the coming months, I hope.

Will you ever reveal your identity or do you prefer to be anonymous?

I’m not completely anon, most of my friends and a few others know who I am. I don’t really like attention so I’d rather keep it on the DL, I’m quite a shy person IRL.

What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not dancing or drawing?

Definitely sleeping and binge watching Netflix. I work really hard so when I’m not working I just want to do absolutely nothing.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

I have never cleaned a toilet. I refuse to do it. I get my boyfriend to do it. Before him, I got my ex boyfriend to do it.

What is your favorite stripper account on Instagram right now?

I am currently loving strip_advisor – they’re posting hilarious screenshots of reviews from unhappy customers. It’s great.

You can keep up to date with Exotic Cancers art on Instagram and get access to exclusive content by singing up to her patreon.
